I’ve been fascinated by Tarot for over 30 years, but it is only in the past four years that I have studied and researched the cards intensely, and this was because I went through a particularly traumatic time in my life and was seeking answers to some really painful questions. It was Tarot that helped me on my path to self-love and healing, and I will always be grateful for that. I found real clarity and understanding in terms of my life’s purpose through instinctively working with the cards and it was such a positive release for me. I then began to offer readings to friends and colleagues because I was so inspired by the potential of the cards to offer guidance and this in itself was truly liberating - to be able to offer spiritual support and healing to others in such a unique, intuitive way. I tend to keep it simple with my readings and stick with my Rider-Waite Tarot Cards. I love them so much. There is so much imagery in them that you can’t fail to find hidden messages and meanings, depending on the layout of the spread you use. I am working with some really interesting new oracle cards at present, but I’m taking my time with them before I introduce them into my work. I think it’s very important as a reader that you really feel connected spiritually with any new decks before you use them for personal readings, but it I will offer additional oracle cards to callers in the future if I feel they will enhance and support the reading. The client's satisfaction is my priority here.
What do you like most about giving readings to clients?
I love the sense of connection you get when you engage with a client over the cards and the reading just seems to flow effortlessly. I think it's fantastic how the cards can pinpoint someone's feelings and current situation simply through shuffling and then laying them down in a spread. It's also extremely satisfying when a client tells you have hit the nail on the head with your interpretation of the cards, and they feel much more positive about their circumstances. You really do feel then that you have genuinely helped someone, albeit in a small way, and that is a lovely feeling.
How would you say you are typical of your star sign?
It's often said that Geminis are the "children of the zodiac" and I agree with that. We are always curious, imaginative and passionate and we have a real zest for life. I would say I do have a lot of Gemini traits in that I love communicating, I tend to overthink (to my detriment sometimes) and I can get bored very easily if I am not stimulated enough. This can lead to having fingers in many pies and sometimes over-stretching myself mentally and physically! But we Geminis are honest and loyal and when we love, we do love with an open and genuine heart. I am very proud of being a Gemini and feel that my star sign has definitely helped me enhance my intuitive gifts, so it's all good!
When do you remember being first aware of your gift?
My wonderful grandmother had intuitive gifts, and she used to read the tea leaves for her neighbours which really intrigued me, as I couldn’t work out how you could predict so much just through looking into a teacup! I did sense she was very magical in so many ways and I guess I subconsciously absorbed everything she taught me. I do have a feeling she passed her love of spirituality and divination on to me, because I often hear her speak to me, especially when I need to make a decision on something and I meditate on it. I continue to grow my gifts by reading as much as I can about divination, because I firmly believe knowledge is power. I also follow the Wiccan path, so I perform moon rituals and spell magick when I feel called to do so. My Wiccan faith, like Tarot, has been a huge, healing part of my life.
What is your most memorable experience with a client?
In all honesty, every experience has been memorable, because the cards tell a different story each time, but it is especially gratifying when a client says I have hit the nail on the head and revealed some hidden truths through the cards. If I have helped the client in any way, it feels great. This is why I do think tarot cards are an exceptional form of divination and I respect them greatly.
What other experiences or qualifications do you have that you feel compliment your work as a reader?
I am an Empath, so I can identify and connect with people's feelings through talking to them, but I do think when working with the cards, it is also very important as a reader to be a good listener too. I love communicating with people on all levels, so listening is a definitely a great skill that I have. I have spent many years honing my intuition and this has proved invaluable as a reader. The cards can often surprise you, and it vital that you tune in to what they want to reveal.
What is the most important thing for a person to consider when they decide to have a psychic reading?
The Tarot is not there to tell you specifically what you must do. It is simply an amazing divination tool that gives you pointers in terms of the possible choices you can make. We all of us have been given the gift of free will, and it is therefore up to us to decide on the path we wish to take. However, I do believe the cards can often give us a gentle nudge in the right direction if we are prepared to listen to their messages with an open heart and mind.
